Privacy Policy
Privacy built into the edit.
This Privacy Policy explains how Editing.video handles information when you visit the site or use the browser-based editor. Your source media and editing projects are designed to stay on your device.
Effective and last updated: August 11, 2026
Your media stays local
Videos, images, and audio you import are processed in your browser, not uploaded to Editing.video for editing.
No account required
You can use the editor without creating a profile, entering payment details, or providing an email address.
Your data is not for sale
We do not sell personal information or use your source media for advertising, profiling, or AI training.
Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Editing.video website, browser editor, and related services that link to it. It does not govern third-party websites, media libraries, or services that have their own privacy policies. In this policy, “Editing.video,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Editing.video service.
How your videos and projects are handled
The core Editing.video workflow is designed around on-device processing.
- Source videos, images, and audio are read and processed locally by your browser. They are not uploaded to Editing.video as part of the editing workflow.
- Timeline data, project details, thumbnails, and imported media are stored in browser-managed storage such as IndexedDB, the Origin Private File System, or local storage, depending on your browser and the feature used.
- When you use on-device transcription, the speech-recognition model may first be downloaded from a model provider. Your audio is then processed locally and is not sent to that provider for transcription.
- Exports are created on your device. We cannot view, retrieve, or restore locally stored projects or source media.
Clearing site data, using private browsing, removing the browser, or losing access to the device may permanently delete local projects. Export or back up important work before clearing browser data.
Information we receive
Technical and request information
When you visit the site or call a service endpoint, our hosting, security, and rate-limiting infrastructure may process an IP address, user-agent, browser and device details, requested URL, referrer, timestamps, and security or error events. This information is used to deliver and protect the service.
Site analytics
In production, we use Google Analytics to understand page visits and usage patterns. Depending on the request, this may include the page path, referring domain, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and coarse country or region. Google Analytics may use first-party identifiers to distinguish visits and sessions.
Information you choose to provide
If you send feedback or contact support by email, we receive your email address and anything included in the message or attachments. Please do not send source media or sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for us to answer your request. Editing.video currently has no public account or payment flow.
Why we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Provide the website, editor, optional sound search, and requested features.
- Prevent abuse, apply rate limits, investigate incidents, and keep the service reliable.
- Understand aggregate traffic, diagnose technical errors, and improve usability and performance.
- Respond to feedback, privacy requests, and support emails.
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service; steps taken at your request or performance of a contract; compliance with legal obligations; and consent where applicable.
Browser storage and cookies
Editing.video uses browser storage so the editor can work without a cloud project account. The exact storage available depends on your browser.
- IndexedDB and the Origin Private File System may hold local project records, thumbnails, and imported media.
- Local storage may remember editor settings, theme choices, dismissed notices, feedback drafts, and other interface preferences.
- Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. Editing.video does not use third-party cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising.
You can remove this data through your browser’s site-data controls. Doing so may permanently remove projects and reset preferences. Browser privacy controls, including Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track where supported by our analytics provider, may also limit analytics collection.
How long information is kept
Locally stored projects and preferences remain under your browser’s control until you delete them, clear site data, or the browser removes them. Editing.video does not control or retain a server copy of that local content.
Support correspondence, security records, rate-limit records, and technical or aggregate analytics are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including resolving requests, maintaining security, meeting legal obligations, and improving the service. Retention may also follow the documented schedules of the providers that process this information for us. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights concerning personal information we control, including:
- Requesting access to or correction of your personal information.
- Requesting deletion or restriction of certain processing.
- Objecting to processing based on legitimate interests or withdrawing consent where processing relies on consent.
- Requesting a portable copy of information you provided, where applicable.
- Lodging a complaint with your local data-protection or privacy authority.
You can delete locally stored projects directly through Editing.video or your browser. Because anonymous analytics may not identify you, we may be unable to connect an analytics record to an individual request. To submit a request about information we control, email [email protected]. We may need to verify the request before responding.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
International processing
Editing.video and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and take steps designed to ensure information remains protected under this policy and applicable law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed by the service, including encrypted network connections and access controls. Local processing reduces the amount of creative content sent to us, but no browser, device, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and exported files.
Children’s privacy
Editing.video is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account system. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact [email protected] so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Editing.video changes. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
